The
Balgowlah North Public School Chess Club
has been running for 3 years now and is getting bigger and better all
the time thanks to our wonderful coach Miro Nowak.
The Chess Club meets every Thursday of term from 3:00pm to 4:00pm in the Library. During Chess Club students solve a range of chess puzzles set by the tutor and then challenge each other to a game or two – in the hope that they will beat the class number one and make it to the top of the ranking board! Each year the tutor sends students to represent the school in various chess competitions including the NSW Junior Chess League Inter-School Competition that runs for 11 weeks. The students love these opportunities to compete and have always made the school very proud of their achievements. Chess Club is open to all students, K-2 students provided that they already have an understanding of the rules of chess and that there are available places in the class -numbers are limited to 30 students. Chess is a wonderful game that offers enormous benefits to children so if you like to play, come and have a look at Chess Club and you will learn to appreciate it even more.
